Experience & Vision

Hi! My name is Kimberley and after a decade in the real estate industry and five years working closely with some of the top sales agents in the business, I began to notice the same challenge again and again: many sellers simply didn’t know where to start when preparing their homes for sale.

While agents are experts in marketing and negotiating homes, guidance around presentation is often limited. As a result, homeowners are frequently directed straight to staging companies that typically offer only furniture hire and don't look at any other areas of presentation.

I created Refined Places to bridge that gap, giving homeowners practical, flexible options. Whether it’s guidance to confidently DIY or a comprehensive service that takes care of everything, we make the process smooth, achievable, and far less overwhelming.

Styling is just one part of preparing a home for sale. Often the biggest impact comes from the basics; decluttering, furniture placement, cleaning, and small maintenance jobs. Many sellers simply need guidance on where to start so they can focus on the improvements that will make the biggest difference.

Kim came over and walked through the house with us. With kids comes a lot of stuff, so decluttering and cleaning were the first steps. Kim gave us a really clear guide on what to keep out and what to pack away, and we ended up getting the house down to a much simpler setup with just what we needed. It made such a big difference. She also gave us a shopping list and a guide for a few things to buy to help style the rooms. I’m not great at putting that kind of thing together, so I asked Kim to come back before the photography session to adjust everything and make sure it looked its best.

Selling a house can feel pretty stressful, but Kim really helped take a lot of the pressure off the initial first steps. Thank you!

When we decided to sell, knowing where to start felt overwhelming. Our real estate agent suggested decluttering and staging, but with our new home still being built we didn’t have anywhere to move everything.

After Kimberley came through for a consultation, I asked her to help declutter and was interested in her opinion on how to refresh the rooms. I really appreciated her honesty and the way she explained how a few small tweaks to our existing style could make such a difference. She also helped source and placed the pieces we had discussed, and they truly transformed the feel of the rooms. Her guidance made the whole process so much easier.

We’re so glad we engaged Kimberley before putting our home on the market. She made our lives so much easier! We’re super busy and just didn’t have the time to figure out how to make the house really shine.

Kimberley took care of everything, decluttering and packing up our excess things, tidying and rearranging our furniture so the rooms worked better. She even went out and bought a few new furnishings and decor pieces for our lounge and bedrooms to pull everything together.

The house looked amazing in the end. We’re so thankful for her help!

I was selling my apartment and honestly thought it looked fine as it was. My real estate agent mentioned that while it was very tidy, it could use some warmth to improve photography quality and buyer connection.

After speaking with Kim, she suggested a few simple things that would help make the space feel more welcoming and homely. I didn’t really have the time to organise it all myself, and to be honest I have no idea where to start with how to make something look nice so Kimberley came through and styled a few elements for me.

The difference was amazing. It still felt like my apartment, just much more inviting. Thank you for all your help.
